Addiction: Cycling as a highly sensory, visually ever-changing experience

I suddenly realized....at a music concert last weekend that another reason why I've stuck to cycling for last...23 yrs. is that not only are endorphins addictive but also I tend to be inspired by highly sensory experiences.

And cycling is highly sensory, not just listening to your body but also ever-changing scenery as you bike along, without distractions of team players (if you choose to go solo) around you. You smell, hear things much more actutely. I am a visual learner also....I need to touch, see to learn /master a skill. And to me, seeing something new while cycling around is part of "learning" / seeing anew my world.

I do go into the "zone" sometimes when cycling but still highly alert.

Good observations. It's true! The fragrance of trees or the rain on the streets from the day before. The feel of the wind and how you hit pockets of warmer and cooler air. I was thinking the other day that the air felt like cool silk.

That's exactly what I mean. :)

Yes this. I always look up if I have gone inwards whenever I smell a pine or cedar stand. I notice different bird song. Crickets. Frogs. And because i ride the same routes regularly, I notice if something is different visually right away. I love riding.
