As I previously mentioned, my pedals are two sided--one side uses spd cleats, and the other side is flat and serrated to grip the bottom of my tennis shoes. Unfortunately, it's been hotter than Hades in So Cal, so my rides have been very short (YES, shorter than ten miles ) or non existent. Next week temps will be milder, yay! I have to admit, however, I sometimes think my bike has been possessed, LOL! Seems everytime I've gone out, I've had "issues--including flat tires. This too shall pass--I'm just thrilled to be able to be back on my bike. I'm already making plans for trips once I purchase a new bike (after the holidays)!
