she's been updating her ride on twitter..which also has a few photos of getting ready for the ride
I want to watch the documentary.
Thanks for sharing this and drawing our attention to such an epic adventure!
Sounds like she should make it in 3 or 4 days time. I just hope she can make it. 230K to go yesterday's tweet and today's tweet says 159K to go. One amazing woman!!
She is almost there!! Crossing my fingers for her.
Maria tweeted around 5:00PM PST. SHE MADE IT!!
Wow, what an accomplishment!
Wow....just WOW!
She has my utmost respect to cycle in such cold temperatures, wind, snow, ice and desolate wilderness.
I was to the edge of Iqaluit in the Canadian Arctic during the informal tour and was immediately intimidated by the blank snowy tundra all around us. There aren't really signs to help you in the wintery snowy darkness. No wonder people can get lost close to home village/town.
SHE'S STILL RIDING. This time heading north to her pick up zone.
Sooo. There were lot of whinners on some other cycling site who (many) claimed that she can't say she did it until she comes back to a hospitable place. Comparing to Scott, Hillary... up and back down or out from the place. And they said that she can't claim to be the first until she returns back to civilization of sort. Well I guess they were not planning on her riding back out.
She said she spent two days at South Pole and last I read, she was headed on her way out. She's looking for the early 50's biker on a fat bike. She doesn't know that Spaniard?? called it quits. so she was looking out for him too. She did spot a solo skier ...
You would think it would be a desolate place. Sounds more like NYC... with all the human activity.
so stay tuned
