Recommend a pair of sandals that are comfortable to walk in and not TOO casual?

As the subject says, I'm looking for a pair of sandals that are very comfortable/easy to walk in but not as casual as Keens, Tevas, and that ilk for going out to nicer places (not super fancy but not pizza either).

For instance, we're going out to a nice, semi-dressy (their website says "casual smart") restaurant tonight that is 1/2 mile from the place we're house-sitting. We love to walk and are living as car-lite as we can for now, but the sandals I have that don't kill my feet are clunky and not feminine. I used to have some black leather sandals that would fit the bill just fine (can't even remember the brand, maybe Naturalizer?), but they finally fell apart b/c I wore them so much!

My problem is that I have narrow, low-volume feet (measure a 7A, but since you can't find A, I need a B/medium that runs narrow). This makes it hard to find shoes that fit as so many are cut too wide or too high-volume.

They don't have to have heels, but if they're flat, they need to have at least a bit of cushiness and support for walking. I won't be walking marathons in them, but more than just from car to restaurant and back.

Any recommendations of something I should take a look at/try on that might fit the bill? I buy shoes infrequently and don't have many pairs so am not familiar with that many different brands/styles.

Most of my shoes are from Clarks. They're very comfortable and most of the styles they sell look nice. I don't know if they'd be narrow enough for you, but Zappos carries them and they offer free return shipping if the anything doesn't fit.

Much to my dismay, I recently bought a pair of lower heeled wedge black sandals... Aerosole brand. To me, this brand screams old lady, but they are stylish. I wear a size 5.5 or 6, and I have narrow heels. Go to Shoes.com. They carry a huge range of sizes and these were cheap: 49.00 for dress shoes. I am wearing them to a reunion, where I'll be standing for a few hours.

I go almost all minimalist now but my go to used to be Keen and while they are best known for their sporty they actually have some nice non sporty items too.

+1 on Keens. They some nice sandals that are not the standard Keens styles but are still very comfortable.

I love my Clarks. They made the only flat, pretty sandals that I could wear last summer while my ankle and foot were recovering from the fractures and sprains. The pair that I chose have nice cush and some arch support.

Keens tend to run wide, though. I do have the Keen Commuter bike sandals, which are cut narrower and fit perfectly in a 7, and I know that the Whisper line is supposed to be narrow as well but also very casual. Any suggestion for specific Keen models that are just a bit dressier but also narrower, like the Commuters?

Crankin, do you know the specific Aerosoles you purchased? I used to wear a lot of Aerosole shoes back 10-15 years ago (to work, mostly) and never thought of them as "old lady" (heck, I was in my 30s for most of that time!)

I'll look at Clarks, ny biker & Artista. Don't think I've ever had anything from them.

La Paz and La Paz wrap are two that come to mind immediately -- emerald City 3 point and Emerald city sandal and possibly Naples.... darn, now I need to shop.

The only brand of shoes that are not tennis type shoes that I own are Columbia brand. This includes one pair of walking shoes and 1 pair of sandles. It's the only brand I've found that are comfortable for me to wear. (This does exclude flip flops.) For tennis type shoes I own LA Gear and Sketchers non slip work shoes.

You are right, I reread your post and picked up about the narrow foot issue second go round. They definitely have some models that are narrower than others but i have a wider foot and tend to head for the roomy toe box.

Order 5 or 6 pairs at a time from Zappos until you find some that work.

I know I'm an outlier here; I despise Clarks, etc and besides, they are too wide for me. I've managed to find stylish, more comfortable shoes at a local place that has a discount room, or other places like Sierra Trading Post. I've never worn high, high heels, but being short, I like wearing shoes with heels. And plus, wearing dress flats seems to hurt my feet more than heels. Another site is Shoebuy.com.

Have a look at Merrell Evera MJ leather pumps. I bought the scarlet one's on Amazon for $109.95
They look like a dress shoe, but are made to cycle in. I have worn them on my hybrid bike and found them to work really well. I have worn them all day shopping and found them to be comfortable.

Thanks everyone. I looked at all that folks suggested and none are quite right. Definitely don't want pumps in the summer heat -- it's gotta be sandals. Love the Aerosoles, Crankin, but they're a bit dressier than I was looking for at the moment. Some of the Keens looked promising and were cute, but reading the reviews, sounds like they would likely be too wide. I found a few on Zappos I'm considering. These are probably the top contenders at the moment:
