Where to Find Felt Protectors?

Hi All. I haven't been around for awhile, but I'm back in the saddle and have a question. I have something that I want to mount on the front fork of my bicycle (2011 Robin's Egg Blue Surly CC). It involves a screw with a lock nut. I don't want the lock nut to scratch the paint and I know bike shops have these small felt pieces that look like a washer to protect paint. Where could I get one? I could go ask my bike shop, but don't want to ask for free stuff. Any other suggestions as to not scratch the paint? Thanks.

Ace hardware has racks of assorted felt protectors, from preshaped ones that go on furniture to strips you can cut to size.

walmart, target, home depot all carry various felt things to protect floors from chair leg scratches- they are usually sticky backed. Alternatively you could go to a sewing or hobby store and buy a square of felt and cut your own, trusting the pressure from the mounting device to keep it in place.

What about cutting a piece of an old inner tube to protect your frame?

Craft felt is pretty low density. I wouldn't trust it to hold up with any kind of pressure, abrasion, rubbing etc.
