Vaya Juanjo!
The favorite in the mens track events is Juanjo Mendez, who lost both an arm and a leg twenty years ago. If you want to be inspired, watch http://vimeo.com/45185727.
He will also be featured in a documentary, “Unstoppables.” For more about the documentary, visit http://imparablesdocumental.com/eng/

I've been passed by this fellow while riding down Spadina Crescent. He's faster with one leg than I am with two!

I just returned from London and watched athletic on Friday.....the olympic Stadium was full and the atmosphere the best of any sporting event I've ever attended! To watch these sports people compete was amazing, what they do with their disabilities I couldn't do being full able!.....didn't get to see any cycling but the velodrome looked fantastic ;-)
I also watched some equestrian dressage, amazing to see people with no arms doing a level of dressage most people could only dream of!
Also meet a American competitor with no legs negoitating the London underground with a suitcase and little help.....amazing ..... He deserved a medal just for that ;-)

It's great, the TV coverage here is awesome, don't know which sport I am enjoying the most.

One of the things I appreciate about the Paralympics is how it changes some of the stereotypical images of the physically disabled. It's no longer the archaic image of poster children. And now the media can actually publish something like this.

I suppose there might be a few who won't care for this type of image either, but to me it is so much healthier when we can feel good in our own bodies.
