The accident I had has me questioning so many different things. I was the only one hurt in the accident. But had I injured someone else . . . then what? Is there any type of liability available to bicyclists? I've looked on the internet but haven't been able to find anything I understand.
I have home owner's, auto, and an umbrella policy from my insurer. Would this be enough?
People are liable for their own negligence as well as for their intentional acts that cause harm to people or their property. If you have a bike accident that is your fault and you injure someone else odds are you will have coverage under your homeowners (or renters) insurance. The personal liability protection of your policy should provide you with liability protection for your unintentional acts. Of course, you need to check your policy to be sure.Quote:

The two main cycling organisations in the UK, the CTC (Cyclists Touring Club) and London Cycling Campaign provide third party insurance as part of their membership benefits package. Perhaps there is an equivalent organisation in the USA?
