She is awesome! I clapped when she landed safely!
Gotta love a fearless kid!!!
That was wonderful.
I loved that video!! The huge WOOOOOHHOOOOOO afterwards was so great.
It was awesome, and only a 4th grader! Sweet!
I saw this a few days ago and LOVED it. Such courage. You couldn't PAY me to do what she did! I'd break every bone in my uncoordinated body!
I went tandem hang gliding a few years ago in New Zealand. Scared the pants off me to even consider it. (I'm still amazed Jeff talked me into it.) When you're standing on the side of a mountain, preparing to run off of it with some nylon suspended overhead.... well, let's just say I was a wreck.
The instructor is basically strapped to your back, and the glider is strapped to both of you. I distinctly remember the instructor saying, "no matter what, once we start running off the mountain, YOU CAN NOT STOP. You'll get us BOTH killed." Well then. Needless to say, I lived to tell the tale. ;) But the emotions were just like the girl in the video. Psyching myself up to take those steps. WOW.

Love the positive self talk!
Me, too. That was awesome.

I showed it to my 11 year old son tonight. He was totally impressed. I pointed out to him that he never has to be afraid of anything on a bike, since nothing could be scarier than going down a hill like that on skis (I didn't mention downhill mountain biking, ha!). ;) He agreed. :D
I told the story of this video today to a young girl undergoing a procedure. It was not going well by the time the physician and I arrived. I painted a picture for her, talked in a quiet voice, and told her all of the things the girl in the video said, described what the video girl was looking at, the questions she asked, the shakiness in her voice, and ultimately her success. I guess a metaphor for what this youngster was going through. It worked. :D
And I promised her I would e-mail her the link. My thanks to the OP!!!
She is a fabulous model for all of us!
The suspense at the top! Man, was she right. So proud of her! I'll have to show this to my kiddo too.
