What gets me really mad is all the misinformed people regarding all breeds of animals. Some breeds have the ability to cause significant injury and even death to a grown man.
It's not about the individual dog per se. Granted there are some line of dogs whose temperament are violent. But its not the breed. Pit bulls included. Dobbies, Akita, Saint Bernard (yes them too), dalmations, chows... lists goes on.
Any dog can be made to be very aggressive and dangerous if mistreated or trained to be aggressive.
The dog Warden is a boob. Must hate dogs. Shame on him. And poor Lennox.
Lots of times it's a person adopting a dog they don't have the temperament for. People not doing their research. Some dogs need a strong person of authority to be their owner. Just like parenting, it takes firm guidance and rules, or the dog or child won't feel loved and protected.I don't think that's the case in Lennox's situation. Those people were doing all the right things.
Really good reading - this is from the '80s I believe but still relevant now.

I remember when I was growing up it was German shepherd dogs. Then it was Dobermans. Now it's the American bulldog breeds. I wonder what breed they'll scapegoat next.
Too bad you can't outlaw bad human "parents". That's more the issue than bad dogs.
I have a personal grudge against Pekinese. Darn ankle biting spoiled rotten dogs. Bites me for actually accepting the human's invitation to enter her house.
Around here the breed I loathe are doxies. The ones I've encountered seem completely evil. We had one in our hood that would cross the road to try to bite my calves as I'd run. He actually had his mouth on my leg (while I was wearing tights), but his mouth was too small to get around my big calves. :p I kept waiting for the day that a car would come by as he was crossing the road...no such luck.
