Anyone Riding the Petal Pedal?

I will be registering for my first bike ride/race called the PetalPedal in June! They offer 30, 68, & 100 mile courses, so I think I'll be safe doing the flat 30 miler. I have a new (5 month old) Trek FX 7.3 WSD which I love riding. I'm planning on purchasing tiding gloves, a biking rain coat, and maybe a basic computer before then. My friend, who is an experienced cyclist is signing up too! Whoohoo. I have done leisurely 15 mile rides around town with no problems and am physically fit, so I think I'll be alright.
Any suggestions or advice? My main goal is to have fun.
