Wow. Those were some tough ladies. I can't imagine doing those kinds of miles in dresses, on those bikes. Imagine the state of the roads, too! Dealing with horses and riding on dirt with deep ruts from wagon wheels. Yet, they all look so lovely doing it, don't they?
They look lovely doing it! Their saddles couldn't have been comfortable at all...and probably many of them were dealing with bikes that didn't fit them. My jaw dropped when I read about the woman who rode a 1,000 miles in 10 days!!
I like the "foursome in Denver." How did they keep those hats on?
Oak, the photos and stories are fascinating and it makes me wonder what my great great grandmother rode in her day. Imagine losing 7 pounds just by wearing the new bike skirt. :cool:
