Wiring harness for wired Cateye Strada Cadence

I am trying to help my fitter find a place online to order the harness/mounting kit for the Catyeye Strada Cadence computer for my Gunnar. I already have this on my LHT and it has settings for a second bike.

I am torn between going this route and just getting a Sigma computer for my Gunnar - does anyone have experience with any of the Sigma computers? My Strada is so finicky that I am not entirely sold with going this route - though it is likely the less expensive route if I can find the mounting kit/harness. Please note this is the wired version...

I've done more than a few searches and can't seem to find anything, but perhaps I am missing it...

the wired strada computers tend to act weird. Two of my riding buddies had one and it continuously stopped reading and needed on-ride adjustments. They both switched to the strada double wireless and never had problems again. I used a double wireless for a bit on a 'beater' bike - and never had trouble - but after a while decided to just get an extra power meter mount for the beater bike as well.
My recommendation would be to switch to the double wireless or even better the V2 or V3. They are pretty much the same computer as the strada double woreless, but less prone to interferences if you ride in a peloton of people (or an organized ride). The V3 also has a HRM included so it's the best deal.

The "Parts Kit" is designed for a second bike and includes both magnets and apparently a handlebar bracket band as well.

I had a lot of problem-free miles on my Strada before I went Garmin ... eventually a sensor wire broke, or I'd offer you mine. And Cateye's customer support is superb IME ... TxD, did your friends contact Cateye?

TXDoc, thanks for your advice. I already have a Polar HRM - so I went for the wired computer so it wouldn't interfere. The one on my LHT has worked well, the one on my Trek was as finicky as a bike computer can get. I will look into the options you mentioned.

As it turns out, I do need a new strap for my Polar...

Is your Polar ANT+? If yes, you could get a computer that reads ANT+ so it would work with your Polar... or, if you need a new strap - buy a computer that comes with a HRM strap - not just Cateye and Sigma, you can look into CycleOps, Garmin... just be careful about those that have 'coded' straps, as they only work with their own. I think CycleOps used to code theirs - so that people would have to buy their straps instead of using those from Timex or Polar... smart business people... ;)

This is a good idea, I had not thought of this. I like my current HRM, and it works with the cardio equipment at my club so I don't have to always hold onto the handles - not that I will be there very often during cycling season for cardiovascular work. Thanks - I will look into this! I do know that the strap that comes with my Polar F11 watch is coded - "to prevent cross-talk". They do appear to sell the same Wearlink strap that isn't coded, which I will look into.

I use a Sigma 1606L (wired) on my Univega and a Sigma 1606L (wireless) on my Orbea. No real problems to report with either computer. The wireless does loose contact from time to time but seems to reconnect without loss of data. No problems whatsoever with the wired Sigma. When I've had to replace parts LBS has been able to get the replacements ASAP. Again, I've been very happy with both computers.

I use a Sigma 2209 (wireless)...it has a HRM, speed, cadence, even an altimeter but I don't reference it that often. I've had very little problems with it. Every now and then, my cadence sensor might get bumped out of whack...but it's not a big deal. I just have to fiddle around with the sensor to get it in the "right spot" with the magnet in order to pick up the signal, but then it works fine. It usually only happens when my foot accidentally hits the sensor and knocks it out of whack. It comes with it's own HRM strap that is fairly comfortable. I've worn some HRM straps that were really uncomfortable, and the Sigma one is fine.

It is good to hear this about Sigma. Someone is given me their old Garmin 305, if they can find it, which is a very nice thing to do. I've been wanting to try Garmin anyway, so this is a great opportunity to do so.
