2010 Salsa Vaya Road Bike

I hate to do it, but I'm selling my Salsa Vaya. I bought her new in July, 2010 and she only has 100 miles on her---not even broken in yet. MSRP is $1500; I'm asking $1200. It's a wonderful bike but it's one size too large and I just can't get used to the 26" wheels. I am selling her with the Planet Bike full fenders with mud flap ($45), bar end mirror and the Brooks leather bar tape ($60). The rear rack, Brooks saddle, bottle cages and pedals are not included. Buyer pays for packing and shipping. She needs to find a good, loving home.

Too big for me, but that's a beautiful bike.

She's purdy! Their website doesn't do that bike justice.

I think I'd need a 54 cm though :(

Oh my!!!! That bike is GORGEOUS!!!!! I'm soooo glad it's too big for me because I would snap that up in an instant. BEAUTIFUL!!!

It is gorgeous and why it caught my eye in the first place at the bike shop. I bought it even though it was too big and I thought it wouldn't matter for a commuter, trail bike but I was wrong. It does matter and it just doesn't fit me. It's too pretty to not be ridden.

I remember falling in love with the Fargo last year - but neither the Fargo nor Vaya come very small - though their fit charts appear to say otherwise. I am sorry that it didn't work out for you, she is quite pretty!

Owlie - Salsa measures different from some other manufacturers - I forget the difference now, it's been a year since I've checked out a Salsa, but I do remember this. Their sizes are larger than they might appear to be from a number. Not that I am trying to enable you or anything - but if you have a local Salsa dealer you might want to step over one and see what you think if you are interested.

I really WANTED that Fargo last year, but I love my LHT so it worked out :cool:

You are right, Catrin. The TT length on this one is 525.

Too big for me, but oh. I'm still thinking about a hill-country grocery getter ... may have to take a look at one of those.

I've never ridden 26" wheels - what didn't you like about them (besides having to keep your spare tubes separate)?

Per the size chart on the website I'm too tall for this one, but I'll admit that I've never been on a Salsa that wasn't a mountain bike. Maybe I'll try to find one to check out here.

Oh, I love that bike! I can see not liking it because it doesn't fit you, but riding on 26" wheels is like being in a luxury car. not to mention so much less concern about flat tires.

It is my pleasure to be helpful :D I also don't believe their sizing charts from my limited experience with Salsa so you might not BE too tall....not that I am trying to entice....enable...errrrrrr whatever ;)

I didn't like the 26" wheels because it felt like riding a mountain bike on the road, that's all. I would pedal and pedal and just didn't get anywhere.

But isn't that just gearing? You have to be in a taller cog combination to get the same development from a smaller wheel - once you take that into account, it still felt like that?
