Bikes and fashion in the NYT

Sigh, some things are good (increased use of bikes for commuting), other are maddening in the following article from yesterdays NYT:

Bicycle Chic Gains Speed

Quotes like the following are a bit obnoxious:

Ms. Page-Green, who likes to speed around on the sidewalk, has encountered hostility. “When you’re going too fast, people get mad at you,” she said. [emphasis added]

As is the sight of the equivalent of an SUV on the sidewalk:
