"I did NOT just roll over a .... !"

So, I was on a 44 mile ride with my hubby and some friends. We're cruising down a flat road fairly quickly in a pace line. I'm the fourth one in line with a guy behind me and then my husband. All of a sudden I'm riding over something that wasn't pointed out to me by the riders ahead of me. It happened so fast and there was a loud popping noise as I rolled over it. I didn't know what it was, but assumed it must have been a cup or a bottle or something to have popped like that. But then immediately I'm hearing all sorts of dramatic yelling behind me, "Ohhhhhh! Man!" and the like ... so I quickly figure out it must not have been something as generic and uninteresting as a cup. I hear somebody say something about a bunny and I flipped out. :eek:"I did NOT just roll over a bunny! Tell me I did not roll over over a bunny!"

Alas .... I rolled over a bunny. :( I am happy to report that the bunny was already dead, so I am not a bunny killer. However, because it was dead and rigamortis had set in, when I rolled over it, the poor little guy POPPED!!! :eek: And the guys behind me got to see the result ... which was not pleasant, to say the least!

So now we get a laugh when we think about the day Jen popped a bunny. And my friend came up with a hilarious song to the tune of the Veggie Tales Chocolate Bunny song ... "The bunny, the bunny, whoa I popped the bunny!"

Ahhhhh .... good times, good times! ;)

I can safely say that I just about biked over a dead roo a few years ago but thankfully the stench woke me up just in time..blaaaaghhhh...

Now that was just what I needed to read before lunch, good job I was not going to have Welsh Rabbit (that's cheese on toast).

It was funny to read but kinda sad too but at least you didn't cause him to 'pop' his little clogs.

Ewwwwww! I was behind a guy in a pace line last year that ran over a dead squirrel. The pop and splatter was disgusting. Thank goodness I swerved in time to miss it but didn't have time to warn the person behind me and he hit it. Gotta love road kill, huh?

Fenders (mud guards) are my friends in situations like these.

Around here it's often fat juicy slugs that go "pop" under my tires. And under my sneakers, and under my bare feet, and.... ewww....

Oh gross, but damn funny. I had a close call one day like that with a dead skunk, really glad I missed him. POP goes the bunny! (sigh... a moment of silence... may he rest in peace and become part of the food chain).

Gross, sad and funny! I was in my mountain bike class two weeks ago and rolled over dog poo, along with a couple of classmates. Needless to say the class stunk in a literal way..... My teacher has a guard on her downtube to keep poo, dirt, rocks and whatever else (bunny splat?) from flying up off her front wheel.

All around the road we go,
The pace quickened the people.
And after them in double haste,
Pop! goes the Bunny.

I have to kill mice sometimes, and I really hate it. I try to think that once they're caught by my cat they're my responsibility, and a quick death is always better than a slow one, but it still makes me sad. But at least I'm getting better at being decisive about it.
