Overheard in my lbs
Woman with bike, with indignant look and huffy voice: - Now, look here, I had this bike in for service 3 weeks ago.
Polite young employee: - yes?
Woman: - well, and now the gearing is completely wrecked! I tried to change gears (...missed this part) and it was all wrong! (getting het up now) I have ridden this bike for THREE YEARS NOW, and NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. EVER! You've RUINED this bike and...
Shop owner, piping up: - hey, it's no problem.
Woman: - ... what?
Shop owner: it's just because you have a new cable. They stretch and need a little extra adjusting. We'll fix it. Takes 2 minutes.
Woman:.. uh, ok.
Ok, so call me a snob, but this had me giggling :D

Excellent sign of a GOOD manager/owner.
Excellent sign of a STUPID customer who should be slapped. I pretty green to all the bike lingo... the this connects to that... etc. That's why I ask questions and LEARN. I hope she at least felt bad/sheepish about causing a rukas.
