Pedals
Hi! I am new to this site, and kind of new to mtb. My huddy has been trail riding since he was a teenager and I have been off and on for about a year, and I love it!! :)
So I am a little frusterated with my currents pedals, I am using the ones that came with my Shimano shoes. Does anyone have an opinion on the Crank Brothers Candy SL pedals? I am thinking of trading up, and these look pretty good to me...

I love mine. Will probably do the egg beaters next- they look so cool. Not a lot of platform, if u have feet issues.

The egg beaters were the other ones I was thinking of, my husband has them and so far likes them. The platform is what I am worried about, I don't like having to glance down to turn the pudal right side up just to clip in.
Thanks for the feeback! :)

You didn't say what kind of riding you're doing, so I'm going to assume XC.
I use these:

I know they can be a pain in the arse to flip, but when I'm riding more aggressively, I like the security of being able to have one of my feet free so if I think I'll need to based on the trail, I can dab if I need to (just in case I can't unclip fast enough to do it). Sometimes if I'm not sure of a new trail, I'll flip 'em and stay unclipped until I am more familiar with it. I do prefer to clip in for drops or jumps so my feet don't fly off the pedals (!), but for going uphill, clipping is a necessity.

Very true, having some kind of platform is a good idea. So I did opt for the Candy SI vs. the Eggbeaters alone. I got them in pink :p and I have yet to install them...perhaps I will do that this weekend and give them a test run on my local trail. Yup, I feel the need to ride comin' on! :D

Crank Brothers Candy
I love my Crank Brothers Candy. I have them both on my Mtb and road bike. I love the platforms when I need to use them unclipped... Nothing beats them in my opinion.

Hated them
I hated the Candys, used the Smartys on my commuter and they were fine but you have more time to unclip on the road in most instances. With the Candys I never got a consistent release, it was like some sides held really tight and I actually wrecked because I could not unclip - twice. My husband who is a very experienced rider said he felt the same with them although never wrecked. He did bend the spindles on two pairs just riding. I know tons of people who love Egg Beaters and do not have any of the issues we had.
I am now a super happy Time rider, I have the Atac XL which is supposed to have a slightly lighter tension. They have killer mud shedding ability, I am shocked how gunky my cleats can be and clip in with ease. I am also able to unclip when needed but have never popped out.
The Time have a platform I can ride on, not as easily as the Candys but still one million times better for me. I was so scared of the Candys I wouldn't clip in one of my pedals, defeats the whole purpose.
***Oops, I see you bought them. Hopefully my experience will not repeat for you! For me I will forever be a Time devotee, I have heard it can be a pretty heated discussion in some circles whether Time or Crank Brothers are better.:p
