Newbie just want to say hi!

I just want to say hi. I have been reading some of your posts and decided to join in. You guys are all so funny hehe. I am new at this and my mom and dad have been riding for well like 5 years. I did not think i could do it but i have just joind the MS bike tour it is 20miles and what do i know i love my bike :) So i dont know if i will make it across the finish line but i hope i do. I am riding 10miles now and it is not that bad. I have i think 24 more days to go and i will do it!!!! I will tell you how my ride go's on sunday. Also i want to know if there is anyone who is doing or has ever done the Team In Training? I have just joind that also for that i will have to ride 112miles but you train for 6 months. So if anyone has done that let me know. Talk to you all soon.

Hi Melissa,

If you can ride 10 miles now, you will for sure be able to ride 20 miles in three weeks!

I have never done a Team In Training event, but you sure see them at _everything_, not just bike events, but tri's and marathons too. They are so supportive of each other, and enthusiastic, and everyone cheers for them. I believe they also have organized training, so there will be people helping you train for the big ride.

I know TNT is great but that is not till next year. The MS bike tour is in 3 weeks and i train on my own for that. I know i will do it my mom is the one saying she does not think i will make it. I hate when she says that but i will prove them wrong :p

You can do it! Add on five miles this week, and five miles next week, and you're there! Or if it's easier to think in terms of time, just add on half an hour this week, and half an hour next week. I have no doubt in my mind you can do it. maybe your mom is just trying reverse psychology??

That is horrible... your Mom not supporting you in this! But... I think I heard a "Dr Phil type" say one time, that if you want support, you don't tell your parents... you tell your friends.

So, thanks for telling us!

If you are riding 10 now.... you can make 20! Just think, if you have to, rest at 10 miles... and then ride 10 more!
