Treasures in the trash!
It was household bulk garbage collection week in my neighbourhood! Guess what I found!? A I think 2000 ish Trek 820 in my size! :D Good shape!
The only problem is the seat post doesn't lower much. Its a really weird seat post its not a shaft type, well you can put a normal shaft type in it. But I can't seem to find one thats fits, even with a sleeve. So right now its an inch to high. Never fear the bike shop will be open on monday!
Its in fine working order and was taken care of. And yes it was meant to been thrown out! Sheesh! Some people!
I was looking for a beater bike to ride on the trails and really didn't want to pay to much for another bike. But i wanted one that was light and shifted nicely... seems I got my cake and ate it too!
Can't wait to get her all ready and hit the trails!!

Nice find! :)
It is amazing what people will throw out. I found a glass patio table with four wrought iron rocking chairs at the trash compacter for our complex. I put the table and two chairs on craigslist and got $60 for them. Kept the other two - they make awesome patio chairs. They look like these - http://www.amazon.com/America-Wrough.../dp/B00293NBSO.

I have a late 90's Trek 820 and the seatpost size is 26.6. The LBS was out of that size when I replaced the original seatpost and I've been running one that is 26.4 without any problems.
BTW, congrats on your great find!
