DH and I just picked up a used Class A-- Damon Intruder last June. We used it for our honeymoon...... Went to Yellowstone NP and the Tetons. I have to say it was an awesome trip. We are taking it out to a local campground this weekend, to do some spring cleaning, R & R and just get away.

My DH is into off road racing so, we have a few trips to the U.P. planned for Bark River Raceway. He is also building a Class 1 off road truggy (truk/buggy) to race in the Baja 1000 so, we will be traveling cross-country quite a bit in the next few years.

We got our first one last year: a 23 ft Class C. Basically we got it so we could travel with the dogs. We only used it once last year, but we already have plans for a few small weekend trips, mostly to rides and races.

My kids made some nice vlogs until the Macbook holding four finished videos crashed just before we arrived in Las Vegas and a speedy connection on our big summer trip. Took the wind out of their sails and they won't even touch the Flip now. My son is still lamenting, "I can't believe we lost the Grand Canyon!"

We like state campgrounds.
We are going to the North Georgia Mountains for an Airstream Rally this weekend. It is called "SpringStream". We attended "Falluminum" last October.
My husband is traing for the Assault on Mt. Mitchell and he will do a 60-80mile ride that will include Brass Town Bald. I will be riding a loop around a lake. My goal is my first metric century.

We are on a perpetual second honeymoon with our AS. I guess you could call it a perpetual delayed honeymoon since we never took one in 1986. We wanted to go skiing but married too early for snow and by the time ski season came we were building our first home. And I mean building, not having it built.
Our kids are old and responsible enough to be left home on the weekends. We are so blessed!

Oh, I forgot.
We use our AS 1-2 times per month. Like my one thread says it is the passion that compliments our bikes.

We had a choice this weekend between two charity rides and the AS rally.
We also pull it to rowing regattas. We will be in Oak Ridge, TN later this month boondocking in a parking lot that is surrounded by water on three sides. There is a bike path along the river and we will be able to watch our sons' boats from launch to finish line. So exciting!
What fun is it to sit in a lawn chair at the finish line when dock launches are so explosive?

When we first got married, we had a small trailer with just a kitchenette and bed. We took it to New Hampshire and day-hiked sections of the AT.

We upgraded to a 29ft bunkhouse for the kids. It's the best way to travel with them. We usually hit a lot of State Parks.

Ludington State Park is our favorite: there's a ton of hiking, good road-riding, and they have canoe/kayak rentals. It's hard to get into in the summer, but its a great park to visit in the spring and fall too.

We have plans to go to Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Interlochen, the UP, Ludington, Yankee Springs (good mountain biking there), and probably Brown State Park in IN.

I scrolled through our pictures, I can't believe we don't have ANY of our camper! I'll have to do that this summer.

I totally agree...I can see so many opportunities on the horizon for some great biking in my future :D

We regret not doing the RV thing when our kids were young. We plan to remedy that with our future grands. I love seeing all the little ones at campgrounds. We tented but not enough to make it a major part of our lifestyle. Your kids will have such an abundance of freewheeling, kid-friendly memories.

I posted a picture of ours in last year's Little Red Riding Hood thread. Anyhoo, we have a pretty deluxe in-truck camper. Slide out on one side (can't see that in the photo), queen bed, shower :) , the works. We opted for the camper to make towing our drift boat easier and the rig is off-road-able. We have a hitch mount rack for the bikes but if we are only taking one or two then we just put them inside the camper. Plenty of space for the two of us and our two big dogs.

My days of sleeping on the ground or even on a cot are over. :( I'd still like to throw in a little backpacking before it's all over but that will depend on how my back fares over the next couple of years.

Our first trip is to Fruita, CO here in a couple of weeks. I don't get to ride, but am looking forward to hanging out in my anti-gravity chair. Memorial Day is Driggs/Targhee area in Idaho. For the remainder of the summer we have weekend trips planned for places around Utah and Idaho and a weeklong loop trip through Idaho & Montana planned for late July. Labor Day is Flaming Gorge. Hopefully we'll make it out SadieKate's way in September, too...and by then I hope to be able to do some road riding!

I want one! DH likes tent camping but I want a little teardrop style so we can take to his mountain bike races. I do enjoy tent camping in nice weather but with us living in Texas there are a lot of times you can't get cool enough. In the summer no rain fly, sleeping in your undies and still sweating because it is 87 degrees at night! I am not a big fan of RV parks, we have stayed in a few with my parents RV but state parks would be different. One day I will win. :p

Sitting in my camper, surrounded by several dozen silver bullets of various vintage and length. Just checked the weather for tomorrow's ride. It will be 60 when we depart. Looks like wind won't be an issue. Yeah!

We will make the rally brunch at 10am. We are making dutch oven apple crisp. The open house starts at noon. We'll get to show ours off a bit and see some others. There are quite a variety of interesting rigs here. We plan to hit the road at 1:30pm.

Thinking about a camp fire now.

Well, I wish we had a bigger camper... but just have a pop-up now. Somehow as the kids got bigger, and the big dog decided she loved camping too... the camper just keeps getting smaller:rolleyes:. One of our state parks we go to has a mtb trail I can actually do without killing myself lol... and a road route of a bike club just outside the park. So nice because I take both my bikes for fun without one feeling neglected lol. The kids also get more safe bike time when we camp with the traffic rules inside the family campground area (vs. the crazies that speed through our subdivision at home).

We have a pop-up, which is great for tooling around locally, but after a few out west trips it's suffering from a few lost parts in south Dakota, and wear and tear. They tend to do that. last summer we put all our camping stuff in a small trailer and stayed in Koa camping cabins. It was a little expensive, but we were in bear country and we felt protected, and it was easier to haul than the pop-up, and easier to set up camp. We have been camping long enough to have a pretty good routine set up to "move in" to a camp site.

Did you catch the view of the Tetons rising up out of the sagebrush prairie from highway 89? I will never forget that as long as I live. No words could have ever conveyed to me how beautiful that was. I hope to see it that way again. A really cool trip would be to stop at all the national parks from highway 89. Glacier, Yellowstone, Tetons to name a few.
