This is probably a silly question - how much more narrow is this than the standard Brooks 17? I have tried to find a description that would give me some numbers but haven't been able to find that. I have 11cm sit-bones so am wondering if this might be too narrow... I am, conditionally, interested :)
www.wallbike.com has all the measurements and prices, as well as reviews.
The B17N is 152x280mm. The regular B17 is 170x280mm.
Don't forget that the outer 10 mm on each side is over the metal cantle plate (and so not comfy to sit on) You usually want your sit bones to be fairly centered on the "cheeks" of the saddle.
Best way to go with fitting a Brooks if you've never ridden one is to give yourself 1-2cm wiggle room to each side of your OUTSIDE sit bone measurement (not the center-to-center measurement you get from a butt-o-meter) Generally that will get you in the ball-park, and once you've ridden a Brooks or two you'll know your fit preferences for future saddles.
That miraculous Brooks comfort won't happen if your sit bones aren't suspended in the hammock effect of the leather. (ie: you don't want to be on the cantle plate and you want to be far enough from the cantle plate that you get the hammock effect)
Thanks Knotted Yet, I just gave Wallbike a call and discussed it with them. With their advice I am going to go with the B-17 standard rather than with the narrow. I can't THINK in metric so sometimes it is easier to just call someone up and talk about it.
So I will need to pass on this saddle, I should have made my phone call before posting - but Knotted's information is very helpful - I understand better now.
