I believe some of you have read her cycling books. I think this obit nicely sums up the second part of her adventurous life:

Thx for this note for us. I have and read 2 of her bks. She certainly lived an inspiring life with adventure, zest and giving.
Makes one wonder how Dervla Murphy is doin', another intrepid older woman cyclist-writer from Ireland. I'm also a fan of her cycling touring bks. She must be close to 80 or so by now.
Both ladies do intelligent, useful research for their cycling touring books which is great fun learning also.
What an interesting woman. I haven't read her books but definitely plan to. Thanks Grog.
Definitely an incredible inspiration; thanks for the post! I too, will be looking for her books.
Thanks for the link Grog.:)
Sounds like she had some amazing adventures.
Wow! Thank you so much for posting about her. I hadn't heard her name before today, but I certainly want to read her books.
I ordered two of her books from Amazon today. I would be glad to pass them on when I am finished if anyone is interested.
What an incredible story, life! Just unbelievable and so inspiring. Thanks for posting, I had never heard of her. What heroes we have among us!
