Another month of waiting...
My new frame that was supposed to be here mid-January is indeed still in Switzerland. Now they are saying February 15th.
It's maybe a good sign that George Hincapie just got his yesterday :D http://tweetphoto.com/8731702

You have my sympathy. I am still waiting for my bike frame which is to be repaired and repainted. It has been repaired, but the bike shop where it is sitting is very dysfunctional and depending on who you ask, there are different reasons for why it's still SITTING...
gee, and for you, these are the best days to ride. At least for me, I don't really want to ride that much, it's cold and dark and rainy.
What happened Mimi?? Did I miss something??? Sounds like an accident. I hope you are OK!!
the accident was inside a bike box. I was not in the box with the bike so i was not harmed.
it happened enroute to Phoenix, someone did not pack the bike properly and the cassette more or less skewered a tube.
Ouch. FYI, if you guys travel a lot, I suggest purchasing trico iron cases, and then learning to do the packing yourself (its not that hard).
The better option is s/s couplers, but that would have been better to have done before you had the bike made (although if its in the shop now for surgery and painting you could consider adding in a retrofit.........).
Bummer. :(
my husband was the certain person who packed the bike. :(
Uh Oh - hubby in trouble...
I cannot really complain about anything or anyone - I guess it's just an import/marketing deal. Initially BMC said that the new slx01's would be available in the US on January 15th. What they forgot to mention was that available meant 'available to the BMC team members' - not yet to the rest of us...
So apparently for regular human beings the date will be one month later - if there are no further changes.
Oh well - waiting for your bike to come back home from repairs is way worse, so I send my sympathy back to you Mimi! :)
I guess mine is more of 'new bike fever' - now that I see pictures of it on VeloNews and all over the BMC website I just cannot wait to see it in person! There's also some curiosity on the back of my mind: it is the first time that I order a bike just cold turkey, out of a phone conversation with the manufacturer - without having ever tried it. And BMC said it is the stiffest bike in the world and it can lean down to crazy angles when cornering - so now I am really curious about trying it out!
Will keep y'all posted on the developments! :D
actually, your wait is harder than mine. I've already ridden my bike and seen it. Yours is totally new.
And we want photos when you finally DO get it!
Of course!
Posting bike photos on TE and hearing comments and suggestions is one of the nicest aspects of new-bike-shopping! :D
Nope, no bike pictures yet - but today I noticed that the having a collection of red and white parts on the table, waiting for the build, actually looks kind of funny... :D
Ooh, those are sharp-looking. :D I'm a sucker for red, what can I say?
