??????????
This is your first post Funky - what was your name before when you posted?
I think I remember the thread...
If its what I was thinking, then I think we were sceptical because 1 -2 posts with links to something, without getting to know the forum - or forum members - just seems like advertising
Funky "That looks like racism a little."
this is a very inclusive community and diverse, that's why we like it here and uh, uhm, in the anonymity of the web how the bleep do you know what any of us are? How dare you call us racist.
"By the way "rapidshare.de" is a site that you can upload your files and share on web."
whatever.
this is a cycling specific site.
you are welcome here and welcome to stay here but before you start posting links some basic beginner nettiquette 101.
Lurk a while, learn the culture here (it's nice and we intend to keep it that way), post to the getting to know you thread and read about us! That way you know us, we know you.
Once we get to know you better we might just might maybe be more receptive.
But uploading files and such is really something we go here to take a break and get away from.
Racism??? On my computer your name appears blue and I've never considered myself a bluephobe.Quote:

I'm blue'ish too, hey, we're all blue'ish. Funny, you don't look blue'ish. Oy vey, sorry for the pun ;-)
  ;)
Thanks, girls, for supporting my earlier rather flippant but now deleted answer. I just won't click on a link in a first time post that is pushing anything at all. There has to be some kind of intro or content in the post that gives some degree of credibility to the poster. I know it took me a long time to understand just how much trolling and spamming goes on in this forum. Those in earlier time zones could report the posts and they were gone long before I even logged in. So, a thank you also to the admins and moderators.
Yeah I missed something :)
My parents have a septic tank..... :p
*wanders back in*
Yeah - what you girls said - but I felt funny saying anything as I have only been here such a short time, but felt irate at the racist and septic comments on the behalf of all the great women here...
Racism is something I would never have associated with this forum
Likewise nasty comments...
I see Funky appears to have "funked off"...
'Septics' is an occasional slang term used in the UK refering to Americans, as in 'Septic Tanks - Yanks' But to be honest, it's not really used very much and apart from being unpleasant is also pretty naff in the "hip" stakes.Quote:

MightyMitre translates ...'Septics' is an occasional slang term used in the UK refering to Americans, as in 'Septic Tanks - Yanks'
oh, so THAT'S what those Brits were calling me

What's naff?

oh, thought Denmark and I don't speak Danish either
Naff - well, I looked this one up in the Oxford English Dictionary for a laugh and it said ' Naff - adj. British informal. Lacking in taste or style'Quote:

Mightymitre - you have made me feel a little homesick. Two of my best friends back in Aust are Poms (they married Aussie boys and made Australia home). They use the term Naff and just hearing it again reminds me of them.
Also Aussies use rhyming slang septic tank for yanks as well although its an older term and I dont think young Aussies use it very much.
Talking of Aussie - us Poms are right in the middle of The Ashes at the moment. Rain stopped play (couldn't have a Test without the rain ;) ) but we're holding our own..... so far. :D
Translation: The Ashes - v long standing cricket contest between England and Australia, held every 2 yrs, alternating between Oz and England. Generally won by the Aussies. ;)
Test: a match lasting 5 days,( think cycling stage race) The Ashes series is made up of 4 of these tests over the summer.
Further translation
Cricket: now, where should I start..... Crazy bat n ball game played by Aussies, Poms, Indians, Pakistanies, West Indians .. in white pyjarma's.
Similar to baseball? They both involve a field but there's less hotdogs in cricket. We tend to go for sandwiches and umbrella's instead. :)

And in Aust lots and lots of Beer. Well at least if you sit on the hill where all the yobbos are.
Havent checked the news lately how is it all going?
Are you Poms giving us a thrashing?
The Poms do appear to be in the lead at the present time, but one can never discount the possibility of a middle-order batting collapse when the English are playing. ;) I'm not sure where my allegiances lie for this match - us Kiwis tend to enjoy seeing both Poms and Aussies beaten. :p
