Thanks!
I bet if we asked nicely, Resource Revival could make some very cool ones out of bike parts. http://www.resourcerevival.com/store/retail
And Susan already has an account with them.... and they are local....
I love the stuff I've bought from Resource Revival through TE.
Not Hanukkah-related, but entertaining: for those who missed yesterday's story on American Jewish music on NPR/PRI -- http://bit.ly/6nS3II
"Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head" in Yiddish is awesome. I also liked the bossa nova "Hava Nagila." :)
Happy Hanukkah!
Oh yeah. Lots of ways they could do that from cogs .... or just use sets of these http://www.teamestrogen.com/prodRR_16R.html
Buying 5 sets of those suckers would get awfully expensive! I suppose you could buy 4 sets and use something else for the shamash. Still awfully expensive.
They could make a big one of those bits, and a smaller one of welded bike chain with the little candle cups welded to it and with a chainring as the base.
They could also make one from a section of rim with a cog/ring at each end for bases and candle cups welded on. That would be quite cool.
A menorah can be made out of anything. One year when I was a child our menorah broke. Duck on Wheels made the most amazing one. Mom chose a large shallow enamel bowl, DoW made tiny aluminum foil boats, picture a shallow cup with a candle holder in the middle, each one about an inch around. Add water to the bowl, each day another "boat".
The effect was really striking. Right Duck? Duck? ;) :p
Happy Hanukkah everyone! :)
Happy Chanukah all!
I loved the bicycle menorah :-)
Not Jewish, but do have a few relatives on one side of the family. So as a nod to them Running son and I always make latkes on the first night...
Yummmm.... dinner was GOOD lastnight! :)
Happy Hanukkah all!
One of my riding buddies and his wife are hosting a Hanukkah party tonight. Can't wait for latkes! :D:D
I want that bicycle menorah. Next year...
Gearing up for latkes and 16 people at my house tomorrow.
