Same route as yesterday (Mall, Lincoln Memorial, WWII Memorial, Hains Point, back), but faster! I've been trying to build speed. Still not fast by TE standards, but my ride was speedy for me. :D 11 miles with an average speed of 12.1.
Today's ride felt good right from the start. Woo-hoo!

Today was a little soggy. Not as soggy as yesterday, though. Haven't missed a day since Jan. 28, though...
... nad my speed is around 12. Or 10. Can't really tell 'cause my speedo won't reset, and it's hard to make a change on the average speed when there's 3000 miles on it ;)
Well, I think Owlice suggested the weekly thread since, at this time of year (in the northern hemisphere) most of us do not ride daily.
I did one of my short loops yesterday; in fact I did it in the direction that I got sick of at one point, but actually, this season I barely rode it this way. The weather was bright, sunny, and about 48. I saw a few cyclists, one going to the store with some cool looking panniers, and a guy on a recumbent, not wearing a helmet. As usual, I was way overdressed. I guess my tolerance for cold has improved or I am just heating up more easily. I stopped to remove my glove liners, push my head cover up over my ears and unzip my jacket and mid layer as far as I could without looking weird.
It was slow going, but beautiful. Going to try and do a night time ride when I get home today, around five. I have about 30 miles left to meet my goal, which I hope will happen in the next couple of days.
My friends and I did our mid-week metric on Wednesday. It was about 40 degrees, cloudy and windy to start, and about 58 degrees, sunny and still windy at the finish. On the way out we had a tailwind, so the first 30 or so miles flew by. We had a headwind the whole way back, so we got a bit more exercise on the second half!
This week we rode our "Cats and Buffaloes" loop, named from the inexplicable number of cats that seem to cross our path on this route and the two beefalo and buffalo farms that we pass. The route is 66 miles and about 4000 ft of climbing, which is not too bad for our area. We always have such a good time, and the miles fly by. No sense in being serious. :-) What a great day, great friends, and a great ride!
(We only saw 7 cats today though if you don't count the 2 deceased ones... down from 12 last time we did the ride.)

I did a 20 mile loop of the farm where I work and played dodge the wildlife. Between the little black gnats, suicide squirrels and deer it was quite the ride. A lovely late afternoon ride though! :)
oh and I found a pic of me on the decent of Buckhill on the Horrible Hundred on Sunday.

my bike is in a bike box returning from Arizona so I am not riding this week. Not to mention, i might not be riding anyway with gale force winds, rain, and 40 degree weather.
I was needing something in between a rest day and a commute. My commute is around 30 miles round-trip. So, I drove my bike to work, and rode down to the lbs and had a little job done on my bike. It was a perfect little before work ride, something like 10 miles.
Tomorrow, if it's messy, I'll take a full rest day. If it's nice, I'll do another short ride, and rest Sat.
