Pedals with Float?
I have been using Speedplay frogs, but the cleats wear out VERY quickly. I love the float, but the release problems are ridiculous.
This chart is helpful:

I started using SPD cleats again, but my knees hurt. Apparently, there are SPD cleats with float, the ones without float indicate a "0" on the bottom of the cleat. However, mine is a float, but it doesn't feel like it.
I'm wondering what you all are finding works for you. I'd go back to the road version of the speedplays, but I had a set, and they are very difficult to get out of on my Bachetta recumbent bike (the angle).
So, I need some ideas around my SPDs or perhaps switching to another system.
Thanks for your help!

Hrm. The BF & I've been using speedplay frogs for about a year and a half... all my cleats are used (& my frogs...)... as are his... We haven't had to replace any of them and haven't had any problems with releases, if anything they release too easil... maybe there's something you can unscrew on the cleat to loosen it or tighten it if you're having problems?
Crankbrothers pedals might work for more float.

I have used Look style road pedals and cleats with float.
I currently have the Shimano A530 (spd) pedals on both of my bikes (road and "urban" mtb) with the SH51 cleat. The SH51 has about 4 degrees of float.
I find to get the most from the float, I need to be sure the cleat is positioned in the middle of my most comfortable foot travel. Takes some time, but worth the effort. Plus, while I was going through all the adjustments, if my knee felt weird, I could unclip and ride on the flat side of my pedals.:D
Good luck.

The speedplays release WAY too easily, that's always been a huge problem with the frogs.
Great recommendation on set up with the SPDs, I'll just plan on getting off the bike and making an adjustment in the middle of the ride.
thanks
