Yipppee!
I have always thought...how come there are those women w/ round, squarish bodies but very toned legs. And knowing (not judging--because it is people I know or know about) but knowing these women dont' run or bike or exercise. They just genetically have these nice legs. And I have the tree trunks from hell!
But maybe these big ole thighs will pay in the long run!:D
Yes, RESULT, it is good to have Thunder Thighs! Yippee!
Clock
That's me, unfortunately! My thighs seem absolutely huge to me right now--after all the running and swimming and biking I've been doing they really bulked up. I just measured them. 21.5 inches. And in spite of all the exercise I still have about ten extra pounds of flab around my stomach. I'm doomed.

Judging from our past TE threads (with photos) about "Thunder thighs", I'd venture to guess that 90% of the women here on TE who claim they have 'thunder thighs' really just have normal thighs.
Why do we allow media/advertising pictures of emaciated fashion models to taint our perception of what normal is?
;) A favorite.
I *wish* I had bigger thighs and less around the middle. I'm one of those unfortunate apple shapes... no matter how much I exercise, my arms and legs get smaller and my gut stays the same...:mad:
I see it from a different viewpoint. In my opinion, the 'fact' at work here is not so much that our thighs are abnormally huge, but that most clothing manufacturers seem to cater more to young slender women in their late teens and their 20's with slender (or no) hips, and slender thighs. They buy clothes more frequently than any other age group.
Truly not much out there for women with muscular thighs, calves, OR wide hips, unless you go to a specialized source, often sport-oriented. When I try on off-the-rack clothes that fit my thighs or hips, often the item is just too large overall and has a gigantic waist. I have settled for wearing stretch leggings/capris/tights with and without skirts.
Which is devastating when you are a young, slender girl with a low body fat - but for which all pants make you feel FAT because you are not shaped like 'normal'.
I don't think age has anything to do with it. In fact, as I get older, I find that my shape is changing towards 'normal' as I put on more weight in my middle to even it all out! :p
When I image-google "thunder thighs', there seems to be a huge range of what people think of as thunder thighs. They include grossly obese, just chubby, lean but muscular sporty, non-muscular 'normal', normal thighs with some cellulite showing, and even a bunch that I would label as downright slender. The interesting pattern seems to be that the thinner ones are labeling themselves as thunder thighs, whereas the heavier ones are being labeled as thunder thighs by others.
Sheesh.
