I wanted to share a trail hazard that two of my hubby’s co-workers experienced on one of the metro park paved trails in our area. As they were ridding they spotted a couple of small orange cones on the trail. They thought they needed to be on the lookout for a hole in the pavement or some such hazard. Instead they rode straight into fresh new asphalt. One of the men was able to keep his bike upright and steer out of the tar. The tires of the other cyclist sunk into the fresh pavement, causing him to tip over. He was air lifted to a local burn unit with severe burns. He will be ok and was scheduled to be released from the hospital this weekend. Just a reminder to be careful out there. Even on the safest of areas to ride things can happen.
