Oh, the big Ride is almost here and our Team are falling apart. :rolleyes:
One friend, fractured her coccyx 12 years ago and now she is riding regularly is finding her coccyx is giving her a bit of grief, even days after riding.
I was wondering if cycle shorts would help cushion the blow a bit and are there any specific ones that are better, she lives in Canada so anything you guys suggest, would be easy for her to get.

Maybe she needs to look for a saddle with a large V cut into the back of it (for example the Bontrager Inform saddles) so there's nothing near the tail bone to press on.
A male friend of ours had issues and ended up buying a women's saddle to cope (and that was after he rode around with large bits of latex foam duct taped to the rear of his saddle).
Also, make sure she does the measure the sit bone thing to see if the saddle is wide enough. If you saddle is too narrow, one of the big symptoms (at least for me) is terrible pain in the coccyx when you stop riding.
ow broken bones don't work too well with cycling.
Just keep in mind that any cushioning should be in the areas AROUND the coccyx, not over it. You want to lift the surrounding parts up a bit but not have added cushioning pressing on the tailbone at all- that's why they do the donut pillow thing.Quote:
