To the driver in Winghaven this morning, who saw I us trapped at a very busy light--pulled up to the sensor for the light to change, then backed up and pulled into the right hand turn lane: I didn't know what you were doing at the time, until you were gone. Since I didn't get to give you a wave--Thank you! I hope I can return the favor someday.

Awww that was sweet. I'm sure at the time you thought "what's this yayhoo doing?" At least that's what I would've thought. How very considerate. :)

Yep, I figured it was another loose nut behind the wheel with the potential to run me over. I had just begun to run the light (after a second cycle), when DH yelled "green light!" He figured it out after we went through the intersection :)Quote:

On Sunday (yes, we have discussed the dangers of Sunday...) I saw a very wobbly bike line riding down a busy two lane street (with a divided median and weird intersection ahead. I am NOT sure what they heck they were doing, they looked like a group of organized beginners, who had all outfitted themselves well but were totally oblivious to the traffic around them. I was just trying to figure out how on earth I was going to herd this group into a cohesive traffic stop and give them a police lecture on sharing the road and the perils of traffic down here and shouldn't they practice up on the much safer and probably prettier bike path? when a white monster truck stopped (I was on the opposite side of the median, he probably did not see me in my police car), which effectively stopped traffic behind him. He waved this disorganized mess on until they had all cleared the funny intersection and were wobbling on down the road. He then drove fairly slowly behind them until they were safely in the residential area ahead, then went on, diesel engine roaring. I was like, Who Knew? Made my job easier, I just sat and made sure no anxious church goer decided to shoot HIM.
There are some courteous people out there.
Some of the residential streets I ride on aren't wide enough for cars to parked on either side & allow dual flow traffic. (tired brain & am sure that probably isn't written right..time for bed..)
Anyways, I was zooping along the road, noticed the tight squeeze & a moving car just about to meet up with the parked vehicles. I slowed right down as I calculated quickly that a car & a bike wouldn't be able to pass through at the same time. The motorist waved me through & I meandered on.
Contrary to popular belief, there are good motorists out there.
Now, if we could just get that through the head's of some of the HUGE trucks driving into Fremantle Port docking area..that would be wonderful. :rolleyes: :eek:. Trekhawk might experience this next week...
