Favourite CD when driving?

So there I was, gorgeous sunny day, again! I had the top down on my Mini and on the radio they were playing 'Journey' - Don't Stop Believing.

A real blast from the past but what a song. Had to be turned up extra loud, I was absolutely buzzing, I felt like 19 never mind 59! :rolleyes:

Strange how certain music/songs can bring out strong emotions, so for me, I don't stop believing in myself! Strong words for somebody who in the past has never felt that confident about herself deep down, got my bike to thank for that. ;)

Just noticed a copy on eBay and I have a feeling it's got my name on it. :D

So, what's your choice?

I plug in my Ipod and it shuffles every Barenaked Ladies Song ever recorded...and because I have every album and download, I might get to hear a different version of Pinch Me for 3 songs in a row.

I have other artists like the Beatles and Jewel, but I always come back to the Ladies for some reason.

Gosh, I feel kind of old...I can't tell you the last time I listened to a CD...maybe 1 month ago. I have been enjoying listening to NPR. The last time I bought a CD was about 2 years ago.

I just plug in my Ipod and one day might listen to the 80s, one day country, etc.... My favorite music is the 80s and disco. Lately I've been turning on NPR.

I'm currently hooked on the new Greenday CD - 21st century breakdown. Of course, that will likely change within a few days. My music tastes are quite varied:cool::rolleyes:

It depends on my mood also. I love all Duran Duran... Had a hugh crush on the drummer when I was young. Now I've been playing a lot of the new Coldplay, "Viva La Vida" and the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack.

Any of the three Spanish Harlem Orchestra CDs. Anything by Third World. Ozomatli. Michael Franti and Spearhead. Salsa and reggae, my big loves. Interspersed with Garbage and MIA.

At the moment I have become addicted to Midnight Oil's 10,9,8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 plus Robbie Williams' Sing When You're Winning..

What gets me through my dreaded weekday commute:
The Clash, Romeo Void, New Order/Joy Division, Psychedelic Furs, The Ramones, REM (early stuff), English Beat, Depeche Mode

I plug in my iPod and shuffle through my whole "eclectic mix," which is everything but classical. There's very little heavy metal, but other than that it could be anything. The other day it went straight from Hank Williams' "I Saw the Light" to Talib Kweli's "Say Something" to something by Ani di Franco to something else by Yo La Tengo - and so on. :eek: I love it, but not everyone can stand the culture shock. :p


(I do love classical music as well, but NOT shuffled a movement at a time between hip-hop, country and alt rock songs!)

Absolutely depends on the mood and the length of the trip. Around the city, I just tune to NPR or the local jazz station. For long trips, some road-trip cd faves include: the soundtracks from Boys on the Side, Moulin Rouge and the Big Chill, ABBA greatest hits and lately, anything from Jesse Cook (a fantastic guitarist whose sound is jazz, latin and world music).

Lots and lots of Pearl Jam. My ipod contains a little bit of everything from 80's music to Toby Keith.

Michael Ducet and Beau Soleil (cajun zydeco, sung mainly in cajun french) is my current favorite.

I also have a compellation CD of "Hard Classics" - according to the liner notes, the "loud, head banging, classical music". Brass instruments, drums, its best played cranked up. I especially love playing the Bacchanal from Sampson and Delilah cranked up. Even more fun when heads turn from other cars at traffic lights. :D

In general I like happy music, with a good beat. So if I'm not listening to NPR on the radio, I'm listening to Cajun Zydeco. Some of that is still blues, but overall it has that zydeco beat.

Lots of Beethoven. And sometimes arias, because I like to sing along--and believe me, you don't want to hear me sing along.
