It was 50 degrees out today. Yes, sunny -- very. But fifty degrees and steady 10-mph winds (from the east, and of course I was heading east...grrr). I wore a long-sleeve wool shirt and a light vest, felt a little warm, rolled the sleeves up, and felt perfect the entire 53-mile ride.
That is, until I got home and saw this:

I have neopolitan tan! My shorts and jerseys are all of varying lengths so I got my first solid tan in my team kit. Then I spent part of the day sans arm warmers in my fox jersey (on the road, I know, so wrong) and since it has shorter sleeves by about 3/4" so my arms are brown, with a 3/4" pink stripe, and white as can be. Same of course, applies to my stems.Quote:

I have a nice shorts-tan line started from doing the MS ride three weeks ago, but I didn't really get burned until I foolishly wore a tank top today without putting sunscreen on my shoulders. I was wandering around a bike swap-meet... does that count as a cycling burn? :p
I did the same thing just sitting on my patio! Never feels like a burn with the cool wind, but i do it every year. :D

I got my first burn about 6 weeks ago.... I did apply the sunscreen to everywhere but parts of the back of my arms!! I felt foolish because I KNOW I will fry in about 15 minutes or less in this Texas sun!
I hope to stay nice and glowing forever with my 85 proof! Being a redhead all you have to do is walk outside here!

Yep - 15 mile bike ride and a trail ride in short sleeves, followed by a 50 mile bike ride in a jacket with sleeves pulled up has resulted in some neopolitan tan lines. Quite amusing actually.
I'm burnt today, too! Despite sunscreen. YAY FOR SUNSHINE AND SPRING IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST!!!!!:D
The bottom half of my legs NEVER get as tan as the rest of me. I actually considered going to the tanning bed to just put my legs in the bed and cover up everything else.
Any other suggestions?:rolleyes:
