A woman I work with is getting married; she isn't registered anywhere. I asked what she wanted..."Cash". Oh BS on that, she'll take it and go the the casinos. (I kid you not)
So, I'm thinking a gift card. Bed Bath and Beyond?

Can't you cash out a gift card? I vote a crystal bowl. Who can't use a pretty bowl?
Charitable donation.
I could always use a Bed, Bath, & Beyond gift card, but I have no use for another pretty bowl. I have plenty.
I like the idea of a charitable gift, especially if the bride and groom have a favorite charity. I think it would be really cool of them, actually, to have people give a gift to Heifer Intl., for instance, as a symbolic token of the two of them starting a new life together, having their friends and families help others get a new start, too, with the gift of a cow or sheep or alpaca or something. Payin' it forward and all that.
Or a $50 gift card.

Oh - kill the bowl - charitable donation wins! It's cash. Just not for her!
I like the charitable donation idea...material girl won't like it though. Don't get me wrong, she is a very nice woman -- just likes her "stuff".
I dunno. It's not about judging people's choices, be it a (to me) tacky pig cookie jar or plain ole money.
I'd say either give her the cash or nothing at all.
Hey I collect cookie jars, you can send me the pig! That may be one of the tackiest things I heard. I felt tacky telling people the registry. I put it this big on the back of a map, no wonder everyone kept calling mom like they should have. :p
How about a US Savings bond?
I'd have a hard time giving cash. We have wedding presents we've never used, married in '86. But when I see them, they remind me of the person. However, those are my values. Material girl wants cash, give her cash.

How about a gift card to the casino buffet? :D
Bevmo.
Snap, are you invited to the wedding? Is there a shower and are you invited to that?
If you work with her and not invited to anything, give her Best Wishes and leave it at that.
If you are invited to the wedding and not the shower, you can also give her Best Wishes and leave it at that.
If you are invited to the shower, then you can get her something personal--maybe a piggy bank for all that cash she's going to get from other people.
Wedding is this Saturday, I passed on the shower as I had other plans. I wouldn't feel right not getting her something.
