Hi!
I am so glad I found this forum! I was lurking around the MTBR.com forum, but it had a little bit too much testosterone for me over there since there was only one itty bitty section for the gals. I'm not exactly new to cycling, but I hadn't ridden a bike seriously since I was in my early teens...soooo about nineteen years later, and I'm totally falling in love with the sport!
I was mainly a runner, but my knees were starting to really protest on my longer runs so much that I had to start wearing braces even for the shorter runs. I guess I really shouldn't say 'knees' now that I think about it, it's more my IT Band on my left knee that kills me :o! I also took quite a few spinning classes that I really enjoyed, so I figured that getting a real bike was a good step to save my knees and get myself out into the fresh air instead of that lovely recycled sweaty gym air :D!
Anyhoo, after much debate/sizing/riding/obsessing, I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of my purdy (and PINK!) Orbea Onix Dama! I loved the ride of the men's version that my LBS had me test out (didn't have a women's in stock), so I was totally sold on this baby (last one I test rode...I tried 5 different brands total: Giant, Trek, Scott, Cannondale, and then Orbea, of course).
I am planning on getting a mountain bike in the spring so I can get DIRTY! I have been completely unsuccessful in getting my hubby into the sport...I really thought he would be along for the ride with MTBing, but alas, nope! Oh well, more for me ;)!
I just know I'm going to love cycling because with every test ride I took, I just wanted to keep riding, and that's the only sign I need!
