check out the popular threads over in Triathlon, dear. Looks like you've found them anyway.
not really, still muddling through this gigantic forum!! seems every day I find more and more forums, it's almost too much! :o
...newbie in the swimming department here. :)
since you're in penticton, are you training for the Ironman?
I recently got back in the pool....last week. I have been spinning since January. I couldn't believe how much better my endurance was in the pool.
So foolishly, I doubled my workout last night to 1 mile. I felt nauseated by the time I got home. I will obviously ease back into swimming....but I love the pool.
okay, after waiting 3 weeks (but continued spinning, cycling and jogging) I swam laps after work. I only did 40 laps, 10 at a time, make sure I felt okay, the last 20 I did continuous. I did notice my cheeks felt warm, as the water cooled them off. Then, I tried to practice flip turns. BAADDDD move, did 3, was dizzy instantly, nauseated, threw-up when I got home, went directly to bed!!! I hope this is not vertigo. Actually had a work-up for vertigo 2 years ago, doc said nope. I have never felt like this before. I wonder if I should wear ear plugs in the pool? I can't believe my body feels so strong and yet my head feels so bad. I am going to the doc on Monday to have my ears checked to see if I have some fluid or something from seasonal allergies.....:(
I don't/can't swim at all. But re your dizziness..I had a serious temporary case of vertigo several years ago that disabled me for a few hrs. where I couldn't get up from the sofa after I collapsed while just sitting quietly in front of my home computer. Whenever I opened my eyes, the rm. spun around me. On that day, I had to cancel going anywhere, including biking to my art class. I mentioned this on the forum over a year ago.
I had my ears checked by a ear, nose and throat specialist plus extensive testing by a hearing/ear clinic. It tooks several hrs. They didn't find anything, but do try a specialist if you haven't already. You already have had several episodes of vertigo from swimming.
that sucks! I wonder if you do have vertigo. I guess it could be a lot of things since swimming requires you to breathe differently.
I sometimes get a migraine after a workout if I'm doing it too hard. I wonder if you're somehow sensitive to the pressures from breathing? Maybe you can swim without flip turns and just do really light workouts? Whatever it is, I hope you get it sorted out so you don't dread swimming again!
