Another Newbie Here!
I am so happy I found this forum last night! I've spent most of the day today reading the posts from new riders like me.
I just starting riding in August, and I'm so happy to say that I love it! I had been a runner for years, but my feet just couldn't take the beating any more. My husband rides, and he has been telling me to give it a try for the past few years. I've been riding my sister-in-law's hybrid for the past few months, which has worked, but certainly hasn't been ideal for me. I've been riding about 50-60 miles a week on it.
So, to celebrate the new year and the fact that I just logged my 1,000th mile yesterday, I decided to order my first road bike. It should be here any day and I'm giddy with anticipation.
Any advice for me? I know so many of you have so much experience. A few words from the wise would be most appreciated. I'm a bit nervous... my husband keeps telling me that the road bike is going to handle so much better and won't feel so sluggish.
I'll let you all know when she gets here! My husband said it feels like we're having our first child! I think he might be more excited than I am to have a new road bike join the family! :)

Hi Sparkles and welcome. I love your handle, I have a dance team made up of 4th and 5th graders and their name is Sparkles Dance Team.
Anyway, we want to see pics of your new bike as soon as it gets here. What did you get? 1000 miles on a hybrid, that's wonderful and it's great that you love it. You'll find a lot of us that love it on here. There is also a getting to know you thread that you can mosey on over to!
Remember the pics!

I bought a...

I'm thinking about naming her Cupcake! :) So when I ride, I'll get my cupcake fix!

Just enjoy the speed - you'll feel like you're flying :p
And don't worry if you feel a bit uncomfortable to begin with. There's a lot of stuff you can do to dial the fit in, and it can take a while to get used to a different bike.
And post pics of course :)
