Cold weather is here and so is static electricity. :eek: All washing instructions say not to use fabric softeners on workout clothes. I imagine it's recommended in order not to hinder the wicking properties of the fabric. I don't use fabric softener and don't put my workout clothes in the dryer. In the summer I never have the problem of sticky clothes, but now everything is "sticky." Any suggestions as to what to do to prevent this uncomfortable situation?
In the past I've used anti-static spray meant for carpeting and furniture, sprayed lightly on the garment before I put it on. Read the labels and download the MSDS's though, because some of them are reasonably safe for skin contact and others aren't.
Putting on a bit of lotion on your skin seems to help (- but how would I know?, I live by the beach where our leather shoes and bags get moldy! ). tokie!
When I travel for business I carry a dryer sheet in a baggie. When I get static electricity I just whip out the sheet and rub it on the offending item. Works like a charm. Bonus, you can put the baggie in the back pocket of your cycling jersey and take it along.
