What does this mean? saddle advice...

I'm on the saddle search. I have tried several, and read much here. I "think" I know what this pain means, but am not totally sure...

The saddle I'm trying now, I get a rubbing/chaffing/pressure/bumping type pain where my glute crease connects to the top of my hamstring. This could mean: 1) I need a T shaped saddle versus pear-ish ??? :confused: ; 2) saddle too wide??? :confused:

My sitz bones are 130/140mm dead center in the impression dent test. This saddle is a Selle Italia Diva Gel Lady. Beautiful saddle. Nice cut out. 160mm width (but less actual sitting width w/slight left to right curvature). I like the saddle otherwise except for what's described above.

I tried a couple Brooks with the last order, B17 and B17S. The width was good, but I think I need a cut out. I tried Knott's lean forward test before I ordered on my wooden chair, and that was ok. Well, actually sitting on the Brooks was another:(. I tried repositioning the saddles several ways, but I concluded if a Brooks is to work for me, I will need to wait and try the Imperial with a cut out when released for sale. The B17 skirt hit the backs of my thighs on the pedal downstroke.

I've also tried some Terry saddles, and Specialized. Those seemed a bit narrow 155mm... I don't think I had true sitz bones pressure.

I'm going to try it longer this w/e on an away trip. Any thoughts? I'll check in when we return. TYIA for any help! :)

I have that saddle and am having the exact same problem! :( I think the nose part is too wide. It stinks because I just got in and thought it was much like what I have had, no I have to find a new saddle. At least I can put this one on my commuter because it is okay for shorter rides.

If you don't think you need a cutout, I've had good riding on the Selle San Marco Aspide Glamour. It has a little sunken channel through the middle, as opposed to a cutout, and for me it provides just the right amount of relief there. I can't ride other saddles with no cutout because I get too much chafe up front, but the Glamour is A-ok for me.

It has a wide rear platform, I believe it's a 155, but it narrows considerably through the nose. It's hard and supportive and has done well for me, even on consecutive days.

Aspide Glamour for me, too. I previously had a couple different Terry saddles--with cutouts--and the nose was too wide and I got chafing right at my bikini line. No problems with the Aspide Glamour.

I had the second one for a while, The Glamour K, I liked it alot, but a little too wide for me in the rear. The cutout is great and the seat flexes, the nose is the best, not too wide. Went to a SI SLR, and also trying a jett. It is on ebay if you are interested.

Miranda, why don't you try the selle an-atomica? No skirts, has a cutout, and it is wide.
