Good Job V. Way to tough it out on the run. It is really difficult in the heat the push through, 13 miles is a very long way. My DH read in Runners's World that the perfect run temp for the human body is 55 degrees F, so you are Superhuman......
OK, gotta go shower now, just home from a race myself and I SMELL!
Congrats! 97 is a lot of degrees to deal with! I'm glad you stuck with it and made it through.
Congratulations, V! You did awesome! :D
Brutal weather. At least in a sprint you know it'll be over before it gets to the full extent of "HOT", but in an IM/HIM, no such luck. The entire day really is a test.
And... YOU PASSED! Do you get a cool medal for being 3rd? It's not a red bull can, but hey...
This is what I got.

The plaque is on a wooden box with the bottle of wine inside. Inside the box was also a coupon for $20 off a bra at bradiva and a post card to send in to get a limited edition tridiva t shirt.
I really like the t-shirt that all the participants received. It's made out of Dri-Tec - very cool.

well done and great race! sounds like it was a good challenge for you to pick and you can now say BTDT & got the Dri Tec shirt :)
I am impressed you went for a HIM so quickly, and were able to do it.
Way to go V. Glad to see you finished in spite of the heat. My HIM run in June was at 93 deg and that was hot enough. Way to go!!!
Congrats, V!!!! I'm so proud of you. Tough conditions, but you not only toughed it out- you placed! Woo hoo!!! I love your award and the prizes. Very nice!!!
Great job!:)
Now that's my idea of a prize! Congratulations!
Good go, V. You are a tremendous athlete!!!! :)
So proud of you Veronica. Well Done!!!
Heat during a run can be a beast. Way to stick with it!
You rock! Truckin' on through that heat makes you a total badass in my book. Congrats on the great race and placing!
Thanks everyone! Man am I sun burnt! My shoulders, one spot on one thigh, behind my knees and my low back are all burnt. My toes are sore and I have one blister. It's on the top of my foot/bottom of my ankle - something was rubbing clearly.

Wow, well done in the heat! I ride in temps up to 100 but it's much harder running. Ugh.
As an aside, I did a double-take on the subject line of this post (seeing as how my name is Barb :D) I did "Barb's Race" yesterday as a practice triathlon to see how it all fits together. I set up a route centering from the beach I swim at and did transition from the back of my van. I think I'm ready for my tri in 2 weeks. :D
Yep, I find riding in the heat a whole lot easier.
