I signed it! Ok, I used a fake name, but I gave my real e-mail address. :)
good, thanks, i signed too
I signed too. What a great idea!
I've used this feature here in Portland a LOT. It's awesome, particularly if you are new to biking or new to an area.
I signed because EVERYONE should have this!!
We were watching something on the national news about bicycle commuting because of gas prices. They mentioned Portland being the most biker friendly city in the country. They said a whopping 6% of workers commute by bicycle. I can't imagine what that's like. I dream of moving to the PNW, but alas it will never happen because DH's family has been here for an eternity, and he'll never leave (unless I leave him...;)... hmmmm...).
That's a great feature, and one that I would love. Not because we have bike lanes I could use, but because it might tell me the least traveled (safest) route I could take places.
TriGirl - its amazing the number of cyclists here. At my office, they just added a second bike rack this spring. I wasn't sure if the mass increase in the number of cyclists was due to the weather finally drying out...or the gas prices. Turns out, it's both. And we aren't even in Portland proper - where there are even more cyclists!
The other commuters at my office say that the over-crowding on the 2 bike racks is a new thing this year. I go out to get my bike at lunch and there are bikes locked to signposts, lampposts, and all over the rack! And I've had bike traffic jams where I had to pedal along at a lazy pace because there were just too many other riders to get around! It's crazy!
I felt really great about signing this petition until I saw the John McCain ad at the bottom of the page. Gr.
Since I'm so afraid of getting junk mail, despite assurances that my address will remain private, I used BonnieCat's email address.
Bonnie the Cat does most of the on-line ordering in my house. So far the UPS man has not surprised me with Cat-nip mice. :D
I was just spending time yesterday trying to figure out a route from a new location. I was cross referencing google maps and city bike route maps and was getting so frustrated... "Why can't google maps just do this???" I was happy to find out about this and sign!
