Need ideas for bike community in Albany area

My friend lives in the countryside southeast of Albany and would dearly love to find people to ride with. She's not an aggressive racer, more of an easy going touring rider in her 50s who needs to build back up to longer rides. I'm out here in Colorado and don't know the resources in the Capital City area, but I promised her that I would find her a bike community to tap into.

So where should I point her to? Shops, clubs, rec centers, the coffee shop with the best bulletin board, you name it, I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks! You know, I'd found Luna Chix on another site, but of course, the link was wrong and then actual life took me away from bike stuff. Will do re the referral, MBC.

And the Schodack-Nassau-East Greenbush area, Iris. I know when I stay over there I don't have to worry about no curtain in the guestroom, because the only one likely to be looking in my window is a cow.

The NY and Boston LUNA teams will be hosting some clinics and rides at Kendafest in Western MA. It isn't far from NY. Hope you can come!

Rensselaer County is a beautiful area, but it is definately rural. I've seen a club doing rides in that general area for several years now (Brunswick/poestenkill) but I have no idea who they are.

I'm super new to the biking scene, and didn't find any shops in the Renss. area yet. But she could try "The Downtube" or "Klarsfeld Cycles" both in Albany. The guys in the Downtube have been very patient with me whenever I go in with a ton of dumb questions.
