Me Too, Finally!!

What a georgous weekend we had here in the Midwest and I finally got to ride outside! Only 19 miles but there was a good couple of rises (by my standards, anyway). I feel spiritual refreshed!

The funny thing was, I brought my bike computer inside to record the miles/speed (because I don't trust my memory from the garage to the house! :eek: ) and set the computer on top of my laptop to log into BikeJournal. It suddenly started registering speed and logging miles! Now, I'd heard that when you pause at a traffic signal, the magnetic plate under the pavement could mess up your little computer but I didn't realize close proximity to your home computer could do the same thing. Why, I was riding 24 mph while sitting in my chair! Mmmmm..... no, I promise none of these miles will be recorded in bikejournal, CorsairMac!!

Well done, Nuthatch (on the real miles, not the virtual ones, although congratulations are in order for discovering your telekinetic powers, I think!).
It feels good to be out, doesn't it?!
I haven't been logging my mileage into BJ, but must get it up to date.

I can see the headlines now: Woman has the Fastest Chair in the Midwest! and I would proudly say: oh yeah...I know her! (looking smug and bored! :p )

and Whew on not adding those miles - you know......Ms Corsair "I'm Not Competitive" Mac. Things like that can make me lose sleep at night!! :rolleyes:

Same here Nuthatch. The puddles, rivers and small lakes from melting snow have finally dried up - we had one day of rain which helped to wash some of the salt and grit off the roads - which was enough to break out the good road bikes this week-end. DH (aka Ace Bike Mechanic) tuned the bikes, making sure everything was in shape before we took them out and cleaned them until they were sparkling ... I needed my shades just to keep from becoming blinded by the shine! :D

All winter I've been gazing at my 5200 reliving the great rides we've been on, remembering how much I loved getting out for my daily rides and thinking spring. But it wasn't until I clipped in for the first time this year and got that first mile on the odometer that I realized how much I love that bike. I love getting out on our local trail and on my mtn bike and fitness bike ... but geez do I love that road bike!

Me too! Me too!! Monday night was my first evening ride this year, now that Daylight Savings Time has kicked in. The weather was perfect; 70 degrees, very little wind. I rode for an hour and it was fabulous. That initial rush of clipping in, pushing off, and starting to roll is addictive! I had to go slow so I didn't get winded (still fighting a cold), but who cares? At least I was outside on the bike path, instead of in the garage on a trainer.

Gotta love that Daylight Savings Time! All the after work group rides around here are starting up this week. I went out for my first evening ride of the year last night too. It was about 75 degrees, partly sunny. It's hard to believe that only two days before we got caught up in an unexpected snowstorm while out on a ride. I guess that's spring weather for you, always changing.

Anyways, it was a nice ride of about 20 miles around town. It's supposed to be a relaxed, recovery pace but turned into something a little livelier. I think everyone was so excited to be out on such a nice day, they couldn't help but bump it up a notch. What a great day, can't wait for the next ride!

I'm gonna sneak out tonight, although I'm massively behind on work deadlines. Skibum, you got caught in the snow too? I was attempting the Seven Counties Century, and gave up when the rain turned into snow! Sunday's weather made up for it, and I got my 100 in, just a day late!

Wasn't that snow the craziest thing? I was doing a ride called the Muscle Mountain Mania, a benefit for ALS research. It started snowing about 15 miles into it. We turned around at the 20 mile mark and got picked up by a SAG vehicle 5 miles later.

The weather was much better on Sunday but I had other plans so I wasn't able to make up for the mileage I missed on Sat. Oh well, plenty of other opportunities to ride coming up.

Oh! I heard that you guys had serious snow accumulations. I just had enough to see snowflakes (okay, snowblobs) on my gloves, before the rain washed them off. I was doing the Seven Counties Century benefitting a juvenile assistance program, and I figured that my money was in, so I was going home. I was so chilled - I need to remember how quickly you can get cold when you are wet.

Let's hope that this weekend brings warm sunshine. (Okay, maybe the sunshine can wait until I finish my taxes!)
