Review: Kuhl Cabo Capris

"These are the capris I've been looking for." (said in my best Obiwan Kenobi talking to stormtroopers in Mos Eisley voice)

I have the red ones. They are verrrrry sexy!;)

Fabric: spiffy tiny herringbone weave. I dunno if it wicks and dries as miraculously fast as the Kuhl ad says, but they do dry mighty fast. The fabric tends to pick up dust and lint easily, but no biggie. The red color is a yummy deep rich red and the contrast stitching is a slightly brighter orangey red (but not glaring or garish) They have subtle decorative ribbon sewn flat at the waistband over each pocket, and the Kuhl logo is cut into a tiny heart shape and sewn over the left hip. I'm not too interested in gratuitous "Hey, look, I'm a girl!" detailing, but I like the subtle and clever stuff like on these capris.

Cut: Nice! The waist is slightly shaped, so when you pull the drawstring you don't end up with big wads of excess fabric. No plumber's butt! The rise is high enough that your undies stay covered. The hips and thighs drape nicely, without being baggy or snug. Leg length hit me just below the meatiest bit of my calf, and makes my legs look nice and long. I don't know how they did it, but something about the shape or seaming on the lower leg TOTALLY evens out my dramatic leg circumference discrepancy thighs-to-calves. (you know how some capris make your legs look like frogs' legs, with giant thighs and scrawny calves? not these!) The pockets are functional. I've tossed my usual array of junk into the front pockets, no problem. The zippered thigh pockets are great, they keep small things safe, and completely disappear when not in use.

On the bike: I rode a good bit in these with Underarmor shorts underneath. Very comfortable. The darts at the knees worked well to keep the fabric from dragging or binding. Crotch seams are minimal enough that they didn't cause any issues on the saddle. The waist stays at my waist where-ever I am on the bars. No mooning innocent bystanders. I'll probably use them on my commute now that spring has finally hit Seattle.
