I would love to. She died in 1999.
Thoughts for a grandmother who doesn't want any "stuff" or flowers??
We're taking her out to dinner - but I always like to bring a little something. Last time it was a very pretty cup towel. She lives in a small apartment in a retirement community.

There is a quote on my calendar for mothers day that made me laugh when I read it:
"Do something nice for your mom....because you were nothing but trouble growing up!"
LOL...that's funny!
Sorry 'bout your mom Southernbelle.....my mom died too (1983 when I was 11, she was the age I am now) :(
What's everyone doing for Mom's day???
We're going to an Archery met...I get to shoot arrows at stuff!!!! :)
flying to Philly for a job! I love Philly! Such GOOD food. OMG! I pig out while I am there. But then I am working 12 hours a day for 12 days so I get to indulge myself at lunch. We go to this market at the reading terminal (from the monopoly game). You can get any type of food. From sushi to hot Turkey sandwiches. Oh I can't wait! We walk through china town everyday at lunch which is great fun. We walked through one day last year and there was a little fireworks and dragon dance going on outside one of the store's it was way cool. We are carving a tribut to Philly this time around. Last year was egyptian.
Hmmm....Maybe note cards. She would use those up.
I give her as much time as I can when my *$%^ partner isn't demanding that I cancel all plans. We go about 2 times a month for dinner with her. Sadly *way* more than any of her kids do:( I did, at least, convince my mom that yes, it really is important to come for mother's day.

Mothers Day is just another good idea that has become guilt-ridden and consumerised for many.
I don't expect my kids to even acknowledge it. I ring my mum up because she expects it.
This Mothers Day is also my daughters birthday, and thats a great gift if I needed one - she will have had twenty healthy and happy years. What more could I want?
I guess you could say I am celebrating/spoiling myself by doing my fave cycling discipline - a time trial! :D
I agree with that.
I went a visited my mom last weekend. I rolled it into a trip north for my godson's first holy communion. It's too long of a trip (and gas and tolls are too expensive) to do it every weekend. Mom didn't want me to leave. I ended up staying later than planned, helping her with dinner (kicking myself for forgetting to bring the newspaper), and just chatting.
Yep - I absolutely have to remember mother's day, esp since it's also my mom's birthday! I actually called today just in case I forget tomorrow (I have a horrible time remembering stuff like that). Now I also have to call my grandma tomorrow, and think about my other grandma that I lost to breast cancer and my step-mom that I lost recently to hepatitis complications. Gotta love all your moms!
