Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes

We'd like to do a 70-80 mile ride (give or take) on our road bikes on the Trail of the Coeur d'Alenes. We'll be staying in CdA, and we can either do an out and back or a one-way ride. I'd love suggestions regarding which section of the trail to do (and in which direction). It all looks so beautiful!

We did this trail last summer for our vacation. If you're just doing a one-day ride, I recommend starting at the Wallace end of the trail and riding back to Coeur d'Alene. We started at the Coeur d'Alene side and rode to Wallace, stayed overnight and rode back the next day.

If you have an extra day, it's well worth the time and money to check out the Hiawatha mountain bike trail.

It is a very nice ride. Smooth and mostly flat. Let me know if you're ever over here on the dryside and want to give it a try. bikerHen

Also keep in mind that you have to pack everything out...no garbage cans for your trash.

Make sure you take lots of pictures to share with us!!

Trail of the Coeur d'Alene

Part of the trail is now closed for repair due to the major flooding we had this spring. The trail is closed between Miramount and Cataldo. There is approximately an 80 foot section out. It is suppose to be fixed by the end of July. I would recommend calling before making the trip.

It is a beautiful ride and approximately 50 miles of it is flat. The incline on either end is about a 2% grade.
