i wore shorts yesterday!

i haven't worn just shorts since... oh... probably october? can't really remember.. i'm a weanie with the cold... but it was soooooooooooooo nice yesterday and i got to start my ride early (2ish thanx to jury duty and being excused!) it was sooooooooooooooooooo nice out! i wore shorts (rolled up to start my quest in not getting too many weird tan lines) and a light long sleeve jersey! PERFECT for me!

i'm gonna try the same this evening after work... should be ok (it's 79 now but i can't start riding til 4:30) i do stick my leg warmers and jacket in my handlebar bag cuz i'm a baby about being cold!!!!!!

i think spring has finally sprung!

Yeah!! The weather gods are being nice!

The good news is that it's 74 degrees and sunny! :)

The bad news is that I'm sitting at my desk working. :mad:

But there's more good news! I'm doing a group night ride tonight and it should be in the 60's :D

I love California. And I love, love, love spring!!!

it's finally getting nice out again huh? I rode 38 miles Sunday... all climbing (last training ride before Solvang...) and wore shorts for the first time in a while too... it was gorgeous until I got to the top of the biggest climb... wind picked up, got cool and started sprinkling :eek: BUT as I raced outta there on the downhill it cleared up and got warm again... WHEW!

Glad you got to enjoy some sunshine!!! 'Bout time huh?

Oh Yeah, Oh Yeah, well I'm up to my you know what in snow again tonight and its freezing, so there.

Far from shorts today. I wore a pair of tights under my bike pants. But only because it was snowing lightly. Very lightly.

Nice ride, though, I had the trail to myself. I'm actually dreading the hot, sticky, yucky days of summer when not only am I sweating buckets, but I have to share my bike path. :mad:

Me too me too . . . hubby and I went on a group ride Sunday and it was warm and sunny and shorts shorts shorts on all 13 riders! Wow I love spring!

It was 70 here yesterday. It rocked to have the hangars all open to daylight and not need coats. I went for a nice long ride after work then went home and got the shorts and rollerbladed around town in a t shirt and short shorts after dinner till like 9pm.
Today was snow and 45mph blizzard winds. 3 inches, drifitng all over like a dust bowl. :mad:

Yes, beautiful dry spring here but we need the rain/snow! I'm worried that one of my favorite riding spots might be closed this summer . . . Devil's Gulch near Cashmere! NOOOOOOOO Hubby and riding friends of ours, we've all been talking about an early spring trip (this month or next) to do a Devil's Gulch weekend, just in case. I want to try out my new fuel EX7 WSD trek on that trail!

Also, Mount Saint Helens is spewing again. Lost Plains of Abraham and Ape Canyon . . . great epic rides :(

The west coast contigent is trying to torture those of us in more northerly climates! Ohio had snow and high winds and it's only 14 degrees here this morning. But I'm still in the shopping mode for a new bike, so I probably wouldn't be out right now, even if it was nice. (Who wants to ride the old bike, when there is a new one in sight??) And I agree with MomOnBike, I dread the onset of heat. Anything over 72 degrees is too hot for me, so my envy for the west coasters is limited. But I think we all share the same spring fever virus, no matter where we live! :D

She sure is moody this spring! I feel for you guys back east. I was born and raised in Pittsburgh. My folks, one sis, one brother still live there and my other sis lives in Iowa. So I know how tough your winter/spring is. I hear it every weekend when I phone one of them. I'm also a little afraid that with all this wonderful weather we may have to "pay back" this summer. Maybe with a cool wet summer? But I take each day as it comes and try not to worry too much.

So cyclingnewbie, which bikes are you looking at? See anything that you really like?

And sweating? I love it. Bring on the heat! LOL :cool:

So far, I've looked at Trek, Giant and Cannondale. This Saturday I'm looking at, at least, Bianchi and the Trek again. At this point my best choices are the Trek 1200 or a Cannondale something or other, but it's too soon to narrow it down to a decision. I am particularly anxious to look at the Bianchi because of their reputation as having a slightly shorter top tube on their frames. I need a big frame for my legs, which makes the top tube too long on many of the ones I've tried so far. But I really liked the Trek.

awwwww i didn't post to torture those of you in the northeast/north, etc! :( i was just so excited that i finally wore shorts and the nice (finally) weater!

i think irulan will have her droughts cuz we, here in cali, got all the rain they should get! lol!

Geez, the drought, then the volcano, what next? While noCal hasn't gotten the deluge that soCal has, I still worry when we get a early, warm spell. I immediately start worrying about fires. If we don't get the rain now, it ain't never going to come.

The few times I have lived outside of California I have found it absolute torture to be sitting up to my bum in snow and hearing people tell me how warm and lovely it is in LA/SF/SD or wherever in CA. I remember one year I was sitting freezing it off in Connecticut and after talking to a friend telling me it was sunny and 70 in the Bay Area I got off the phone and burst into tears! A tad of an extreme reaction, I admit, but gads, I was sure tired of the damned snow! And the Cabin Fever was unbearable! When I was in Tucson, AZ on business I met a woman from Minnesota who was an avid mountain-biker. She said that during the winter she used tires that had spikes on them :eek: Goodgriefamighty. How you ladies put up with snow, ice, etc. and stay in such good sprits is amazing.
