Oral medication & (in)digestion
Have pulled myself out of a bad cold and fever which flattened me out last week for a few days. This weekend I was able to resume cycling once more. During that time, I took a strong cough/decongestant syrup for relief.
Now I'm one of these folks that only gets a cold/flu once a year or even less. Also rarely get the common types of infections that others get --ie. mouth sores, ear infections, etc. I also seldom get headaches.
So it is very rare that I take any oral medication..of any sort. Even aspirin..is like once every few years.. I have always been like this ...my whole life so far. No I don't take laxatives either. I rarely have gastrointestinal problems.
So maybe it explains why my body felt lousy (though relieved from hacking coughs) after,..just taking cough syrup. It felt like my whole body has spent the last few days trying to get rid of toxins...cold, plus the medication syrup. Almost as if my body was unaccustomed with foreign substances, such a mild medication/drug.
I know that some people (including my partner), get constipated just even taking aspirin/Tylenol.
