The guy in "first" place in the virtual RAAM group lives in Australia and commutes to work then rides a centuary just for fun when he gets home! :eek: We've actually talked about starting a new RAAM thread when Chris reaches Atlantic City, NJ and "turns around" to ride back across America!! Most of the high mileage people (a couple are women btw) are brevet riders - the #1 rider for 2004 on BikeJournal rode (correct me if I'm wrong) I believe something like 14,000!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: But let me tell ya - they all think its cool some of us are trying to ride 3000 for a year. No real egos there - just like here!

I added this evening as BikeMomma there also, and entered my two most recent rides. I'll update my log after my ride tomorrow and see where I get. I reeally need a heart monitor now. Extra incentive! :p

Signed up too. Can't believe I've done that many miles :eek: , but double checked and it seems to be right :) - commute by bike every day, so it's clocking the distance up. Gonna be fun to see how many miles we all cycle over the year - what a great incentive!

Had to enter my bulk mileage to bring it up to date, though - but will add as-and-when from now on.

Very cool. I've been a member, but never used it because I can track mileage faster on a spreadsheet. So, I also joined TE. I just lumped my YTD mileage in.

When I pulled up individual stats for TE, I only saw 3 people (not me :( ) Does it take a bit for the info to upload?

Did you add the club to your "club affiliations" on your profile page and make TE your primary club? I had trouble with this at first, too. I think that's what I had to do to make myself appear.

I saw you there too Momma - so far there are 9 of us and darn you Snappy - you just had to knock me outta #1 didn't ya! :D Now I gotta go out and ride today to play catch up for all the time I've missed! (can you tell I'm a middle child?) Ditto on the how much fun it'll be to see everyones miles!!

I have visions of us all being racing snakes in a few months to come - pretending that we're not competitive at all, but finding ourselves glued to the stats, pedalling like billy-o, to keep in the running! Think this is gonna be a huge kick start to my spring training, if nothing else (not competitive at all, but don't like to be left behind! :rolleyes: )

Hoping the weather's nice tomorrow, and might just squeeze another 40-50 on there ...

Thanks ladies, I've been using bikejournal since the first of the year as "Go-Dog-Go". (Moms will know...it's a Dr. Seuss book about dogs going places). The highlight of my day is logging in miles and trying to stay in the top 300 (barely). I also count trainer miles, though the weather has to be really nasty-for N.C. that just means sleet/snow/freezing rain combination- before I'll get on the trainer instead of riding the roads. Thanks for setting these up, nuthatch & SadieKate! I've been using bikejournal.com since nearly the first month I started road riding (which was a year ago December), and it's fun & gratifying to look back at my old entries to see how I've progressed. I had gotten out of the habit of entering my rides this past summer but I started keeping track again in December.

Maybe we should pick another women's team to "ride against" on BJ. That'll give us the team spirit! I volunteer to be a domestique! ;)

The only problem is that you can assign each ride in your log to only 1 team. So, I've got mileage going to a couple different teams. I kind of like just seeing my mileage build as a whole. Plus, me, the flatlander! It's not even the end of February and I've almost climbed 10,000 ft! Woohoo! Veronica, Jobob and kim are probably just shaking their heads and saying "I did that last week," but for me this is a huge accomplishment. Yellow and her hubby took me, Bubba and Jenny up to Placerville yesterday and rode our tushes all over the foothills. Whew, short steep little grades up there but fortunately short ones. I'm having fun having a real log to see my mileage and elevation.

Might break the 10,000 ft mark today if the rain stays away as promised.

I don't know that I'll keep mine updated. I keep track of my mileage through the program that came with my heart rate monitor. The website seems kind of pokey and I don't always have the patience to wait.

I've never kept track of how much I've climbed before. I think I'll add that to my personal spreadsheet.

Sarah don't compare yourself to others. In fact I'm probabaly going to take myself off the public journal just because I don't want to see how I stack up. I'm too competitive that way and it takes the fun out of it. That's why my primary goal this year is to ride more miles than I did last year. Comparing my performance only to myself keeps me happier. :)
