Sizing Frustration
I want to buy some track pants or warm up pants, or whatever you want to call them. Relatively light weight nylon with a light lining.
Problem is, I have short legs (28-29" inseam I think) and every pair I try on is 2-4" too long. And they often have zippers up the sides so I can't even hem them, IF I was handy that way.
I have asked at several sports stores and none of them thinks the major brands (Nike, Reebok etc) carry petite (short length) sizes.
Does anyone have any suggestions???

Would teen/youth sizes work?

I've run into the same problem...I'm 5'3". "Regular" length stuff is often too long on me.
Brands that offer bonafide Petite sizes include Hind, REI, Marmot and Moving Comfort. Don't know if any offers a nylon pant, but all have black tights or looser-fitting "track" pants. I think InSport might be another one.
You might check out some of the runners wear supply places on-line. Plug in the word Petite and see what pops up. Good luck!

Athleta has almost all of their pants in petite styles. Maybe you could find something there. I buy almost all of my athletic wear, except for cycling there.

These don't have an outer nylon layer, but they are very comfortable and come in petite. http://www.teamestrogen.com/products.asp?pID=22009 I use them for running and biking (and sleeping). But I have the tall version. They keep me plenty warm even on damp days, and the zippered pockets are fab-o.

You might try looking for capri length styles too. I have a pair of unlined ones like that - same problem here - sweats are just as bad.

I think Sporthill carries some of their pants in petite.

And thank you for the suggestions everyone! I am off to see which ones are available in Canada!
I want them to wear for volleyball, and at the gym, and mostly to wear over my tights when I go for a run when it's colder. Right now I am wearing my tights with my old, looser warmish track pants which are not nylon. They fit ok but wind pants would be better I think.

Have you tried Title 9 sports?

I have the same problem - only worse 27" inseam here. My normal slacks I buy in petites and still have to hem. I almost always have to try them on if the inseam isn't specified because even petites can run long on me. I've also bought capris but sometimes the legs just don't seem to hang right even though the length works. I recently went on a quest for some warm up pants for a boot camp I just started.
I found two at REI:
http://www.rei.com/product/739183 - these are really warm. A little long for me but since the ankle is fitted they don't drag on the ground.
http://www.rei.com/product/739182 I think this is the other pair. But the pocket is different other than that same style and the length is good. I like them because they are a more relaxed fit than the others.
The REI oxt brand appears to come in petites in almost all of their styles and I find the length is right.
At a local store I found these:
http://www.fogdog.com/product/index....ductId=2077965 - they are a bit too long but because of the elastic at the ankle I can make them work. I like the way they fit otherwise.
They are all very comfy.
Good luck and let us know what you find.

I just got a pair of Louis Garneau Oslo tights ... they run short, so they fit me perfectly at 5'3" (I got a medium at 130 lbs) ... I'm not sure if it's just the Oslo that run short, or the whole LG line but I definitely recommend them.
